Approximately 50 Masons, families and friends attended the Freemasons’ Association Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Martin Place Cenotaph on ANZAC Day. The parade, which formed on the corner of Pitt Street and Martin Place, was under the command of Parade Commander, VW Bro Colonel Stewart Grant, Ret’d, Lodge Army and Navy, No 517.
Wreaths were laid by the Deputy Grand Master, RW Bro Antoine Georges on behalf of the United Grand Lodge; the President of the Freemasons’ Association, RW Bro Ross McAlpine on behalf of the Freemasons’ Association and the Immediate Past President of the Freemasons’ Association, Dr Yvonne McIntyre and Mrs Jean Lilly, on behalf of service women of the Masonic family.
The Wreath Laying Ceremony was initiated by Dr McIntyre in 2009 during the term of MW Bro Dr Greg Levenston as Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of NSW and the ACT.
Senior Masons in attendance included MW Bro Levenston PGM, the Senior Grand Warden, RW Bro Philip Miller, the Grand Architect RW Bro Peter Zelik and the Grand Secretary, RW Bro Stephen Green PDGM.
Those attending the Ceremony returned to the NSW Masonic Club for morning tea compliments of the Club President, W Bro Stephen Bates and General Manager Paul Brasch. The Club has generously made the club available since the initial Wreath Laying Ceremony.
