Commemorating the First meeting of the Grand Lodge of NSW, 16 August 1888

The Governor of New South Wales,  Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO attended the Sydney Masonic Centre at 5:30pm on Friday 16 August 2013.

In the presence of the Grand Master, MW Bro Derek Robson, AM, Her Excellency unveiled a special commemorative plaque to mark this 125th Anniversary.

Her Excellency’s address was, as usual, thouroughly researched, full of interesting history about the Grand Lodge and the early days of its existence and was perfectly delivered.

The Grand Master in thanking Her Excellency for her continual support of Freemasonry and for the unveiling of the special plaque, made an appropriate presentation of a copies of the Masonic Certificates of her late father.

The unveiling was followed by a cocktail party.  The Governor, the Grand Master and four past Grand Masters mingled with about 50 dignitariries and guests on the 3rd floor balcony.

Special thanks are extended to RW Bro Chris Craven, Masonic Museum Director, for his skill and thoughtfulness in organising and conducting this elegant event.
